I am proud to be the third generation of my family to serve in the fine art business. I have been professionally active as a fine art dealer since 1998, and in a full-time capacity since 2006. I specialize in the purchase, sale and appraisal of classic works of art by select Canadian and international artists, ranging from the mid-19th century, to the early 21st century.
During my career, I have advised many important collectors and have served a number of distinguished Canadians. I was a co-organizer of the following sales of particular significance, including the $37 million sale of Lawren S. Harris paintings in 2017, which constitutes the most valuable single consignment of Canadian art known to date:
-
The Collection of William I.M. Turner Jr., 2015-2016 (26 works, $4 million)
-
Lawren S. Harris, 2017 (14 works, $37 million)
-
Property of an Important B.C. Collector, 2019 (30 works, $1 million)
-
The Collection of Mitzi & Mel Dobrin, 2020 (90 works, $21 million)
-
Property of a Distinguished Montreal Family, 2021 (22 works, $1.2 million)
-
Property of an Important Montreal Collector, 2023- (90 works, $7 million)
Over the years I have conducted appraisals for donations of artwork for the National Gallery of Canada, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Art Gallery of Alberta, and the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, to name a selection.
Additionally, beginning at Walter Klinkhoff Gallery, and subsequently at Alan Klinkhoff Gallery, I was a co-curator of a number of museum-style retrospective exhibitions celebrating and studying artists of historical significance.
I am a member of the Canadian Association of Personal Property Appraisers (CAPPA), and served on the Board of the Art Dealers Association of Canada (ADAC) from 2019 until 2022.
