The artist, Claude Le Sauteur was a highly acclaimed artist who combined the pictorial sensibilities of Jean Paul Lemieux and Jean-Philippe Dallaire and into an imagery of his own identity.
With Claude Le Sauteur’s Matinée d’automne, we discover the quiet majesty of Charlevoix in the soft light of daybreak. From the rolling hills of Les Éboulements, looking across the St. Lawrence River toward Île aux Coudres he paints the landscape in a subdued palette in gentle veils of green, gold, and blue. He achieves an atmospheric haze evoking the stillness of an early autumn morning, where land, water, and sky merge into a scene of remarkable serenity and contemplation.
