I am the owner of Alan Klinkhoff Gallery, a fine art dealing business with galleries in Montreal and Toronto and a member in good standing of the Canadian Association of Personal Property Appraisers, CAPPA. have been professionally active on a full-time basis as a fine art dealer and fine art appraiser since 1975, initially as an employee of Montreal’s Walter Klinkhoff Gallery and from 1984 a co-owner of the same gallery. In 2014 , with my two sons, Jonathan and Craig, we opened Galerie Alan Klinkhoff in Montreal and Alan Klinkhoff Gallery in Toronto. Jonathan is President of the firm.
At Alan Klinkhoff Gallery, we are primarily dealers of fine Canadian art and also offer for sale fine Dutch, French post-impressionist paintings, Victorian, contemporary British, American and European 19th Century paintings.

2025: I am a recipient of the King Charles lll Coronation Medal for, “dedication to the preservation and promotion of Canadian art, showcasing and preserving Canadian talent with a special focus on the contributions of Canadian women artists.”
2025: Celebrating The Four Nations Face-off hockey Tournament, Galerie Alan Klinkhoff hosted a special loan exhibition celebrating art and hockey.
2024: An accredited member of the Canadian Association of Personal Property Appraisers.
2017: Alan Klinkhoff Gallery accomplished what remains the highest value single artist's sale by a commercial Canadian art gallery, a collection of paintings by the artist Lawren S. Harris.
1974- 2024: Alan Klinkhoff has co -curated more than 36 non selling retrospective exhibitions celebrating Canadian artists.
2017: Alan Klinkhoff wrote John Little: City Life from 1951, published by Alan Klinkhoff Gallery, the only publication about Little and authorised by the artist. It was launched with the first John Little retrospective.
2017 Celebrating the 100th Season of the National Hockey League Alan Klinkhoff Gallery hosted an exhibition Fine Art and Hockey, A Point of View, accompanied by an 83 page illustrated catalogue.
2004-2020: Alan Klinkhoff was the Art Consultant for the Toronto Club.
1996-2009 Alan Klinkhoff was a member of the acquisition committee of Art Ancien at the Musee nationale des Beaux arts du Québec.
1990: In September 1990, Alan Klinkhoff was the representative of The Professional Art Dealers Association of Canada to the Senate of Canada, The Senate Permanent Committee on Banking and Commerce in the debate on the introduction of GST.
1988-1997: Alan Klinkhoff, was contracted by the Department of Justice, Canada in the capacity of “expert evaluator” of art.
1977: Alan Klinkhoff has provided appraisals to the Art Dealer Association of Canada where our original art gallery was a founding member. I have performed countless art appraisals for private and corporate art collectors in addition to complete exhibition collections and a significant number of appraisals for clients and institutions, including museums. I continue to offer appraisal services of important fine art.
Since the inception of the Canadian Cultural Property Export and Import Act in 1977 and the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board, Alan Klinkhoff has been the signatory of appraisals submitted to the Board, appraisals solicited by numerous private individuals and many museums including as a sample selection; The Montréal Museum of Fine Arts, Musée national des Beaux arts du Québec, The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, The Art Gallery of Ontario, McMichael Collection, The McCord Museum, the National Gallery of Canada, and The National War Museum.
Alan was born in Montreal in 1953, is married to Helen Brown, and is the father of 4 children and lives in Westmount, Quebec.
