Estate of the artist“François” Millet, son of Jean-François Millet
I painted with François Millet for half a summer in France. He was an awfully nice chap, and unfortunately was club-footed.
“Why don't you get married, François?” I asked him one day.
“I can't earn enough money to keep a wife,” he replied.
“Well,” I said, “I earn enough to keep one.”
“Perhaps,” he answered, “when you paint better you will sell less.”
