Claude A. Simard found inspiration from beauty, most often flowers and commonly flowers in his garden. It is here in the studio at Carré de Bon Accueil, that his ideas gelled and evolved onto canvas. Claude was not often drawn to paint winterscapes. A bare tree seen through the window and white rooftops in the distance suggest winter. The studio allowed him to recreate his inspiration and the colour of his flowers in the context of his studio. While the landscapes might be composed of numerous drawings, even of different venues, in the studio, listening perhaps to Glenn Gould, he composed his painting from objects of his daily life, including pots of flowers, a watering can, a can of sketching pencils on the bureau and a few preliminary drawings on the wall.
