Molly Lamb Bobak Biography
Molly Lamb Bobak was born near Vancouver, British Columbia on February 25, 1922, daughter of Alice Mary Price and art critic Harold Mortimer Lamb.

She joined Canadian Women's Army Corps (C.W.A.C.) in 1942 and became lieutenant. She was appointed Official War Artist with the Canadian Army in Europe and went overseas in 1945-46, becoming the first Canadian female to become an Official War Artist (National Library and Archives Canada).

In 1945 she married Bruno Bobak, himself an outstanding artist.

Molly Lamb Bobak was an instructor in painting at Vancouver School of Art, 1947-50, taught at University of British Columbia Extension and Summer Schools in1958 and 1959.

In 1960 she began teaching at the University of New Brunswick Art Centre. She has also taught at Banff School of Art, Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre, Inc. and the Alberta College of Art.

In 1995, Molly Lamb Bobak was appointed to Member of the Order of Canada (C.M.), one of Canada's highest civilian honours, and in 2002 she was appointed to the Order of New Brunswick (O.N.B.).

She died on March 2nd, 2014. According the obituary published in the UK's Daily Telegraph, Molly Lamb Bobak had been one of the last surviving Official War Artists to have served in the Allied forces during the Second World War (13 April, 2014).
